A keystone of our practice is the identification, diagnosis, and treatment for neurodevelopmental differences such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit, Cognitive Differences, Learning Disabilities, and related Neurodevelopmental conditions.
Referring to these conditions and others as Neurodiversity reflects a shift in mindset to regard brain function in a neutral light. We strive to closely understand each individual's experience and give special attention to how their strengths may be used to compensate for areas of challenge, identifying any supports that may be needed to fully realize their potential.
We stay informed on current developments and trends in the field and are devoted to providing high quality, evidence-based, state of the art treatment for individuals of all ages, from toddler to adult.
Assessment for social, emotional and cognitive development allows us to accurately identify a range of neurodevelopmental conditions including those mentioned above. We also screen for and identify overlapping or separate conditions such as depression, anxiety, and behavior disorders.
Dr. Crystal Gray completes comprehensive neuropsychological assessments for toddlers, children, teens, and young adults up to age 26. She also accepts referral for vocational assessment for clients working with state DSHS Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. At this time, Dr. Gray's practice is limited to assessment and she does not offer ongoing therapy or assessment for other adults aged 27+.
An assessment includes a personal history interview, 2-3 in-person sessions, and a feedback session to review the results. During the in-person sessions, Dr. Gray and her team work one-on-one with the client to complete a variety of psychological measures to better understand cognitive ability, academic skills, attention, memory, working memory, processing speed, executive function, and more specific areas as needed. Often an assessment will include closer identification of any observed learning disabilities and screening for mental health conditions.
The product of an assessment is typically a written report that summarizes the client's history, provides details on measures, data and criteria used, appropriate diagnoses and recommendations for intervention, accommodations and treatment.
This process is typically covered by insurance, but will apply to deductible for most plans. Dr. Gray is in-network with a few commercial insurance plans, and can provide a superbill for clients to request out-of-network benefits.
Assessments for young adults is focused on clarifying previous diagnoses with the goal of identifying appropriate accommodation for academic and vocational success, in aid of career and life planning. We work in partnership with young adults and their families to better understand their experiences at school, work, and home. We hope to better prepare young people to self-advocate in all settings, so we emphasize interpretation of the assessment with young adults, and ensure that important information and documentation is in place for their next steps in school, career, and appropriate state & community resources.
